Flat PVC wall profiles for finishing closed stairs – P1 and P2
P1 and P2 – neat tread finishing at the wall
The P1 and P2 wall profiles are elements of the Quest® Stair System dedicated to closed stairs. Together they conceal installation gaps and finish the tread surface at the wall side — top and bottom. Each element addresses a different aspect of finishing, and used together they deliver a professional, seamless result with no visible gaps or raw edges.
P1 – upper surface of the tread at the wall
The P1 profile finishes the upper surface of the tread at the wall side on closed stairs. It conceals installation gaps from above and gives steps a neat appearance in staircase constructions with solid sides.
P2 – lower surface of the tread at the wall
The P2 profile finishes the lower surface of the tread at the wall side on closed stairs. It seals the joint from below, concealing gaps and giving the whole staircase a tidy, closed appearance. Both profiles are available in the same colours as the entire Quest® system — ensuring a consistent finish throughout the staircase.

Installing P1 and P2 profiles — step by step
P1 and P2 profiles are installed during the stair finishing stage, after laying the cladding. No specialist tools are required – just PVC mounting adhesive and a plastic saw or scissors. This makes installation quick, and the result is long-lasting and neat.
Installation should be carried out at room temperature. In cold conditions, warm the profiles with a stream of hot air before fitting.
Installation steps:
- Preparation. Trial-fit the profile against the step and cut it to the required length using PVC scissors, a knife or a plastic-cutting saw.
- Profile placement. Slide the profile onto the wall at the step so that it fits snugly against the edge and effectively conceals expansion and installation gaps.
- Fixing. Secure the profile using PVC mounting adhesive, ensuring even contact along the entire length of the element.
- Fitting subsequent steps. For multi-flight or angled staircases, cut the profile at the appropriate points and join the sections, maintaining a continuous and neat finish.
- Final check. After installation, verify that the profiles are correctly seated and remove any excess adhesive. Once the adhesive has fully cured, the staircase is ready for use.

The QUEST stair system includes:
- Z1, Z2 – profiles for finishing the outer sides of stair treads, ideal for open stairs, enhancing their modern look.
- P1, P2 – solutions dedicated to closed stairs, enabling neat concealment and protection of tread edges at the wall.
- 730-RGP, 730-RD, 730-RGP – matching stair nosings fitted to the front edge of the tread, protecting the most heavily used edge and enhancing the visual appeal of the staircase.
- LZ, LP – wall and corner strips for finishing landings and longer stair runs, ensuring a consistent appearance throughout the installation.
P1 or P2 – how to choose the right element?
Both profiles are designed for closed stairs and complement each other — the difference lies in their mounting position at the tread.
P1 (upper surface) – fit on the upper surface of the tread at the wall. It conceals installation gaps from above and finishes the visible part of the tread-to-wall joint.
P2 (lower surface) – fit on the lower surface of the tread at the wall. It seals the joint from below, eliminating gaps and giving the staircase a tidy, closed appearance. For a complete closed-stair finish, P1 and P2 are used together — P1 from above, P2 from below.
